I would guess that picking a style that suits your abilities would be your best chance for success If you are talking what would be the most entertaining to watch again I would say beauty is in the eye of the beholder what one likes to watch also someone boxing in a style suited to their abilities and natural attributes would be the most entertaining unless they are a dominating force than this could lead to dominating one sided performances that leave some people wanting more

I agree your style is based off of what your capable of. Most people wont go for a brawling style unless they could punch with the execption of bradley. Roy jones used his phsyical attributes to the max in his prime reason why he dominated the light heavys for so long. Some guys have to fight a certain way because they tried every other and it didnt work out well. Theres no best style. Mike tyson was a beast he was a counter puncher in his prime slipping bobbing and weaving then even the slighest opening and BOOM! He counter the mother ****er. Pacquiao is a boxer puncher but a very offnsive one at that. Uses his head movement as a somewhat of feint as well as a defense jabs jabs and throws that left right pipe. But my personal opinion i think the perfect style would be a boxer puncher my favorite style to watch is a brawler thats able to cut the ring off well.

I agree with Viola that it depends on your body type. Obviously a swarmer/infighter would be suited to a shorter guy whereas a boxer type needs to be tall and rangey.

Having said that the 2 most recent and dominant champions in history,

        Wladimir Klitschko and Lennox Lewis,

Are both boxer-punchers and regardless of nuthugger opinion it stands to reason that this is the most effective method for the big guys, utilising there gifts as technicians and backed up by a big punch!

However there is a case to be made for a "swarmer/puncher" which I would label as Mike Tyson's type was the most skilful example and could also be viewed as like a David Tua, Sam Peter etc. They could be considerably smaller than their boxer-puncher opponents yet pose a dangerous threat!

I rate both types higher than pure boxers and pure swarmers. I do not think they are a really serious threat in the modern HW landscape because they do not have a good punch. (Ali/Frazier the land of the featherfists!)

I am fortunate to have lived in an era that features proper knockouts!

        Boxer-puncher until proven otherwise!

Thats easy, spoiler style, being smart enough to get away with breaking the rules giving you a massive unfair advantage. For example holyfields headbutts that he could get away with time and time again even though we all know he was doing it on purpose. Groin shots too. Designer steroids that cant be detected. etc

Id say a counter punching (infighting or out) boxer-puncher- spoiler

Boxer/Puncher is the Gold Standard of boxers IMO. The greatest to ever lace up was Ray Robinson who was the epitome of a boxer/puncher.

The ability to be crafty, have good defense, be a ring general and pick your spots as WELL as having stopping power is a deadly combination.

I don't think there is really enough difference between a brawler and slugger to differentiate.

            - Boxer (Outfighter) - Muhammad Ali
            - Counter Puncher - Mayweather Jr
            - Brawler/Slugger - Lucas Matthysse
            - Swarmer/Pressure Fighter - Brandon Rios
            - Boxer/Puncher - Adrien Broner
            - In and Out - Manny Pacquiao/Andre Ward

I think those are the best examples of styles. It's straight from Wiki...the only thing I disagree with is they label pressure fighters as being purely in-fighters. I think you can be a pressure fighter and still fight on the outside. I also think the in and out style deserves it's own style.

The one you feel most naturally comfortable with! Find a trainer and see what he thinks as you try some different stances along with movement and hand eye coordination! What stance lets your hands flow freer? Being comfortable equals relaxing and you need to be calm and relaxed in the ring. Any tension saps energy and you'll have a tendency to "go to sleep" quickly! HA!! Ray.
