  • Anyone here who has unstable shoulder?

I just wanted to know if anyone actually dislocated their shoulder here. I need some advice, I'm really hoping that I could still come back strong and be able to at least compete in the amateurs. Not boxing as a career, I just wanna join small tournaments in our place. No way I can stop boxing that's why I wanna know if there's anyone here who had a shoulder dislocation, didn't undergo surgery, but went back to boxing. Or even joined competitions.

I dislocated my lead left shoulder in throwing a hook. It popped back in right away automatically. I've stopped boxing for 5 weeks already but I continued doing roadwork, interval sprints and started with few shoulder rehab exercises 2 weeks ago. I underwent physical therapy sessions and they told me to strengthen my posterior shoulder/rear part. I was preparing for my first competition this coming November 26 when I injured my shoulder in a sparring.
I really wanna join this year because I've put really hard effort for 3 months already and I don't wanna lose the heat of wanting to fight because the next tournament would be next year May..

Any advice? Or experiences similar to mine?

I'm planning to go back to the boxing gym on September. Giving my shoulder 7-8 weeks rest from boxing. What do you guys think?

In Jack Dempsey's book, championship fighting, Jack Dempsey related this issue with a wrong way of throwing punches. Suggest you to find this part (sorry, I cannot do it for you).

To prevent joint problems, I do static exercises such are standing on arms like as if you want to do push-ups for 1-2 min, this does help, but of course, everything must be without injuries to do it

make sure it heals well before you go on thats first for sure
I hurt mine on a motorcycle and keeped reinjuring it playing baseball moved to firstbase and it healed up but the damage was done due to reinjuring it many times I box right handed and it is my right shoulder so not as big of a deal but I won't even try to thow a wide punch with my right hand now I can do it but I can feel it's not right still mine is damaged in the front of the shoulder and when I am strong it does not bother me when I quit working out for a while it reverts and feels really weak like I could damage it
so I would say let it heal fully then start a weight training program to strengthen the proper muscles and learn the proper technique and you should be fine remember the more it is injured the more prone to injury it will become so don't push it before it is ready

Hurt your shoulder through dislocation 50x? That's awful, dude. Guess I really have to concentrate on my form first before going back to boxing.

Will a month and a half of training be sufficient for my first fight? I've been boxing for almost 2 years already but started really serious training and diet last June only. Stopped July because if this **** but I didn't stop working on my cardio and core at all. Will a month and a half be enough? Since I'll be having a better cardio and core by then. just have to polish techniques and spar

Okay! Thanks, man. Guess I'll have to be really patient. Just really desperate to join the competition this year. Anyways, my shoulder's getting better, I just don't know when to come back to boxing exactly.
