My 3rd amateur fight...You be the judge

Alright first off no excuses BUT my 2nd amateur fight was last Friday (aug 2nd) that night and Saturday night I got extremely drunk and ate **** food. This Tuesday I had a minor case of the flu and felt good to go yesterday morning so I went through with the fight.

I was about 60-75% for this fight. With all that said I still think I did alright.

I lost a split decision, but I think its very debatable. You be the judge.

    PART 1

    PART 2

    PART 3

Trust me I know how sloppy I looked. I was out of shape and shouldn't have fought.

R1 - Love that jab that you're sticking that guy with, quickly double up some times. When walking in to engage your opponent don't just 'walk sraight in' every time. Feint a jab at the guy after you cram one of those jabs down his throat. After the feint just use your eyes, you'll see that feints can create openings for you. Honestly I didn't see him land many scoring blows, again nice work with a good gaurd, in time you'll want those elbows in more but stil good work.

R2 - What's with these looping right hands again, shoot them straight or you are giving up your reach advantage. Slip his jab to the inside and then you bring the right hand over otherwise throw it straight. Also, beware of his right hand coming back at you. It can be a dangerous move. And whats with you taking breaks just f'in with your cup? When somebody catches you and sets you on your ass you might quit doing that. There are othr ways to display thatu ar relaxed.

R3 - Simply put, you got out worked. You'll never have these oppertunities again. If you love it than the parties can wait. I lost my share of bouts because of such things all the same. Just remember that you'll never have this time again. Right at the end (95 sec or so) you threw a nice straight right to the head that was blocked. Find that spot on the video where you threw it and watch that little clip a few times. All that I will say is that if you dropped that straight right into his rib cage once in awhile you could do some real damage aswell as giving him another spot that he has to defend. It'll open your straight right to the head up once you land a few into his rib cage. Then feint the right downstairs and shoot it up stairs following with a hook. See what I'm getting at here?

I couldn't count blows as the video jumps and the sound was off. By traditional old school amateur scoring I had you down 59-58. Love that jab..... double it up and work it with fients..............

You stepped in unprepared or atlast not how you should have been, dedication man. To succeed in this sport you need to live in the ring just the same as you live it outside of the ring. If you neglect it will show in your bouts. Do it right in preparation and set up a rematch with this clown and prepare properly. My money says you win handley using only your movement, jab and your STRAIGHT right hands ................ Rockin'

While I like commenting on some amateur fight threads/posts, ugh, seriously dude? If you are going to do this for every one of your fights, just do them all in the same thread please? Seriously. lol. Especially AM fights, you are going to fight often enough, combined with the moderately low traffic in here, that they will flood the front page, and we don't need every other thread to be a "my X amateur fight.." thread, lol. Just saying. Make a "whitey's AM fights" thread or something. Food for thought.

just my opinion but when I see someone throwing overhands constantly its makes them look like they're getting desperate to land and frustrated. Also you need to work on cutting off the ring, you came straight at him so he was able to slip out away from the ropes and reset his position.

lol @ drinking not being an excuse that's like saying 'yeah I would have won If I actually trained' its all in your control.

Rockin' ur the man. thanks for the breakdown. u hit everything on the nail.

ROUND 1: i was definitlely walking in wayyyy to much. my trainer wanted to kill me after. he always says walk in with the jab or dont walk in at all.

ROUND 2: i was firing the looping right hands because i felt like i needed to knock him out. i didnt think id have the energy to go 3 rounds and i was fighting in his hometown. i usually never throw those kinda shots. the messing with my cup thing is a horrible habbit that i need to break ASAP.

ROUND 3: Yea he outworked me this round and this is why i ultimately lost the fight imo. i was sooooo gassed. i was headhunting and ur right i should have threw the right to the body.

I learned my lesson through this and wont drink again for a looooong time. I know i could hav ebeat this guy easily if i was 100%
