  • My fight at Ringside Tournament - Facing a giant. Who won?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxYrBw6xFDs

Heres my 8th fight, it was at Ringside Boxing Tournament in Kansas City. Its the biggest amateur boxing tournament in the world it happens every year. There were 1600 boxers and 1000 fights. Lots of states were there, Canada, Australia, Mexico, and a few other countries.

I met Kermit Cintron and took a pic with him, guys from his gym were fighting and he trained there wednesday and thursday and then headed down to OKC for his fight on Friday Night Fights. Kosta Tsyzus gym was there, Ponce De Leon's gym, Cintrons gym and Roy Jones Sr. I fought a guy who had Roy Sr. in his corner.

Im red corner, guy I fought was a giant, 6'3" while in 5'8" so I had to get dirty on him. I did a bit to much holding but i had to blast inside and keep him there and make it ugly. Plus they changed my time of my fight and which ring i was in, i had at maximum 5 minutes to run get gloved up and get in the ring. I almost got DQ'd for being late, yet somehow when i got there my opponent was gloved up, waiting and ready to go. It seemed shady i had ZERO TIME to warm up but it seemed like he knew ahead of time. Oh well I still thought I won, but he got the nod.

Who do you guys thing won?

im 24, just doing it for fun not a career or anything. Im 4-4, but of my 4 loses only one was a clear loss, two were split decisions which the majority of people feeling i won, and this one i dunno if it was a split or not, but i thought he got the hometown decision.

But I never got hurt in the head, he did hurt me twice to the body in the solar plex which winded me

man you were def hurt at 3:34. not knocking you at all, that shot would have dropped most. perfectly timed u coming in.

i think u should work on an overhand right as u prob face alot of tall dudes. this guy was def open for it.

as a boxer i understand why u went on the inside and tried to rough em up, but it doesnt look good for judges thats why i have no prob with them giving him the decision

the one thing that you definately have are balls, other than that you are about the rawest thing with 8 bouts that I have ever seen.

as a referee I would have called you for charging wth your head and slapping. you ran in face first so many times that you probably could have been disqualified for it because you wouldn't know how to do it any other way and it would persist.

you have the one thing that can't be trained into a fighter......... heart.

Good job, but my card was for the opponent............ Rockin'

You finally got a little rhythm going come round 3, but those first 2 were terrrrrible, my dude..

You are a brawler, sure, but you have to work on being precise with your punches, aside from being sloppy they looked weak, with no direction in them whatsoever. The pressure you were forcing onto him was good, glad he being that tall didn't intimidate you, but he was just a much more technical boxer, you had some alright moments, but overall, he looked better to me.

What up's big ol' girl and that booootyyyy as your ref.. daaamnn..

Congratulations and well done for having the courage to get in there and box, and to do so in front of a crowd like that. You've already won, in that regard.

In terms of the fight, it doesn't really matter if you won or if he won. Your punching technique is, to be brutally honest, terrible. Your trainer needs to get you to actually throw shots with the intent of doing damage to your opponent. You have a mauling style, and you made it ugly against a much taller fighter, but even mauling punches are designed to do damage. Your shots were basically just wild, palm open flails at his head without any kind of commitment.

Work on your punching in the heat of battle. I think you need to work this out in sparring. If you keep punching like that, it's not going to work for you in the long run. Good luck.

Good fight WarMaidana!! I like how you went to the body early, and I like the head movement, Sometimes it's hard to get inside on a tall fighter but he didn't know how to maximize his height and reach advantage. Good job!
