      Barry, no offence, but Jack Dempsey (I assume you have heard of him), wrote a great book on the principles of boxing, where he mentioned 4 ways to set a body weight in explosive motion, and stepping in was just one of them. So, of course, it is possible to throw power punches without stepping in. Apparently, you have just discovered it.

      By the way, I am back to Moscow (Russia) from Europe, suggest you to come here (you can stay at my place for a reasonable fee for food and such, no rent), visit couple of gyms, you will see how low is European level of boxing is actually

          Definitely agree with the danger of throwing double hooks from both hands. Double hooks from the lead hand not too bad, but you're naturally going to square yourself up throwing left/right hook combinations. To do that against "stand and ****" type of KO puncher in the 1st round is indeed not smart.

            What are the other 3 jack dempsey mentioned?

            Sitting on your punches would be one i assume??
