  • 14 or 16oz gloves for heavybag/sparring?

I'm looking to get a new pair of gloves mainly for the heavybag but possibly a bit of sparring aswell.

I like the look of these http://www.ringsideboxing.co.uk/shop...hite-2014.html My brother has the training glove version in 14oz and they seem spot on,But I was thinking of going for the 16's as that's what most folks seem to recommend for sparring.

    I weigh about 147lbs.

Would appreciate you guys opinion thanks

    16oz

No real reason to go under 16oz for sparring

Ideally, you want to have a different pair for each activity, sparring and heavy bag work that is. Typically, 16 oz gloves for sparring and 12 oz gloves for heavy bag/mitts, although the latter could be debated. And 16 oz gloves would obviously be altered if you're a heavyweight or if you're at a relatively low weight.

Ive been use my 16oz sparring gloves for sparring and all other training for years. At first I would use 12oz gloves for the bags, then 16oz for sparring. I felt slower and a lil more arm tired so I decided to do everything in 16oz gloves. Every now and then I suggest you do a few rounds on the bags/mitts in 12oz gloves to work on speed.

I would never spar anybody who used the same gloves for sparring as they did for their bag work......... Rockin'

It's a uk company that makes them not affiliated with the u.s ringside.

I use my bag gloves to spar (16oz)...what is your issue with it?

I'm assuming it's because the bag breaks down the padding so the shots feel harder?
