  • Pullups Everyday?

Would it be overtraining to "grease the groove" and **** out pullups throughout the day, or could one get away with it? Something tells me the old timers did calisthenics everyday.

I'd say go for it, I do them almost every day and it works fine for me.

You could also alternate pull ups and push ups every other day.

Personally, I'd advise doing them atleast every other day, if not every third day. Peoples bodies are different, but way more often than not, people who do pull ups everyday eventually run into joint problems, tendon problems, etc in the long run. You could do them, and would see benefits, just beware. Sure, old timers did a lot of different things, the beauty of increasing technology/science is we are finding better ways to do things. Your body needs to rest and rebuild. As original stated, I'd atleast alternate everoly other day, pull ups/pulling one day, and pushing/plyos the next, and better yet, would recommend a three day split (pull ups/pulling plyos one day, pushing plyos second day, and leg plyos third day).

Take this with a grain of salt, just food for thought.

Ak49 is right. Ive done pull ups like a mad man for 12 or 13 years and fast forward to like three months ago I had severe right shoulder problems. Stopped with the pullups for a month and bam, I'm back. Shoulder is perfect again, gave my body the break it needed to heal. Of course, every one is different but Ak49 is correct on a general level.

Your body needs time to heal, i'd do 6 days a week tops.

I do them every other day. I'm a firm believer of giving the certain areas that you work out 24hrs of rest. Have not run into any tendon/joint problems yet.

i'd imagine one would become to tight, your straight punches might just become non-existent, power-wise
