What do amateur judges look at most?

I heard some people say they don't even care about defense but it doesn't seem logical to just ignore defensive boxing, im training to get my first fight soon and even tho its just amateur, I want to win the most fights I can, any tips amateur fighters can give me?

extra question, in sparring..does your trainer let you use all your power? Yesterday I was sparring and I gave the guy a left hook and it was pretty hard and my trainer said to chill with the power punches.

The judges simply record the number of punches that land on the target area, with force, and with the knuckle part of the glove. The judges can't score for defense, ring generalship, effective aggression etc - they can only score punches landed.

AIBA have recently announced that amateur boxing will be reverting back to the old pro style scoring system.

Don't worry about how the judges score the fight, go out and fight to the best of your ability, if you go in trying to "work the system" then you're missing the point.

Most view chest to face! The key to winning rounds in the amatuers is simular to the pros. You win the first 30 seconds of each round and the last 60 seconds of each round. What happens in the middle can be a mode point as long as your on your feet and not rocked!
Ali was the Master at stealing the front and end of rounds! Ray.

I believe amateur scoring is going to be like the pros now and no headgear. I had my fight last month with no head gear and 10 point must system.
