cauterize your nose, it's mostly painless.

this... It just burns your blood vessels shut if they are too near the surface of your nose or something.

I went to get this done at the Doc after even a hard jab would make the entire gym look like a crime scene due to the blood from my nose.

Turns out I just had inflamed blood vessels or something at the back of my nose. The Doctor gave me a nasal spray and after a week of using that I never had the problem anymore.

For the frst year or so that I boxed my nose would bleed crazy like every time that I sparred. People kept telling me to get it cauterized but I never did. Vaseline has nothing to do with it really, I mean you could put some up your nose to try to soften the scab so that when its torn off that it might not bleed but that wont help really. After awhile the scars inside of your nose thicken the tissue around the cuts and they just stop bleeding. You could aqlso make a water/salt solution, dip a cue tip in it and treat your cuts when they are fresh. A bloody nose never stopped a fighter who really wants to fight.................... Rockin'

Find a "boxing doctor" a doctor who has experience in dealing with the obvious hazards!!
A quick fix to stop blood flow is to roll up a gause about the size and shape of a cigarette slightly shorter and push it up above your front teeth into your front gums! This works 9 out of 10 times but it is a gym fix not something for a fight. I have used it in the corner but it needs to come out for the round. This technique is actually the old way of forming a mouth piece. A new one would be used round to round! Mr Johnny Datro showed me this technique when I first started working corners Mr Datro worked the corners in many Willie Pep fights and was a very good advise man in the corner, wise man!

I would burst open almost every sparring session. Left nostril everytime.

I found out about it because my trainer said it was a common issue and a few guys in the gym had already had their noses cauterized. So I went to the Doctor about it and he said he couldn't see any need for cauterization after a nasal examination and gave me this spray.

I don't know about the cost. It was free on the NHS here in the UK.
