    Any suggestions on what to do to build and improve explosive speed?

    Shadowboxing with 2lb to 3lb weights it worked for me.

      simple speed is achieved from plyometrics

      you want to be faster, shadowbox and try to be faster

      p.s dumbells gives you a false sense of speed, it's a temporary feeling that leaves your muscles thinking it's still carrying the load and you can't really tense all the fibers like you want, but it is good for muscle strenght, when your muscles come off the high(abouta day or 2) you'll feel stronger, and be more explosive if you make it a habit

        work on timing. Practice throwing one punch at a time but focus on snapping the punch and your body position and weight as you punch. When you get comfortable with your form, the speed will come.

        You go throwing a bunch of fast combinations and what not, you'll mostly burn out and only improve your cardio. Take Mayweather for example, his entire key to success or one o the major components at least is position and timing. He is fast but it's more than that, he throws crisp, accurate punches but it's how he shifts his weight around and his position that makes him fast.

        An example is his upper body movement. He moves his shoulders and head in a motion kind of like a snake to draw the opponent's hands into a favorable position and then he strikes while he is positioned the way he wants to be which allows him to hit and get out.
