Obviously not bad for him but yes, I taught to "pronate" the wrist and throw the elbow up and out! This isn't done at the end of the punch rather as impact is achived. You want to punch "threw" your target for max power and pronating adds power! Pronating is an extremely difficult technique to master because its not done all the time. Years ago it was simply taught when throwing a right cross! You would step out right or slip under to the right an throw a punch that would start at your opponents left shoulder and "cross" his chest thru his chin to the right shoulder and that punch would be pronated just prior or during contact. As I said its a difficult technique to master!

Tried turning the wrist and not turning the wrist. Not turning the wrist definitely gives me more power, and I don't have the same type of vibration from impact that prevents me from bringing my hand back as fast.

If by pronating you mean rotating the fist at impact, then that's natural for me, since I was always taught that, and always punch like that. The way Louis throws is a little unnatural to me, but I see the benefits. Gonna practice it, til it's second nature.

Your shoulders aren't relaxed and you need to add shoulders and hips. This technique is best applied at medium range. Its simply math, your adding leverage to weight to cause more impact! Can't be taught on line look at the picture of Marciano Ko'ing Walcott thats a decent rendition of pronating and flaring the elbow and adding weight to the impact! As I said this takes prcatice and time to develop, very difficult to master! Ray

I like Joe's way of throwing the right hand. Gives me much more power. I think I'll start throwing it like that now.

I'm just gonna stick with turning my wrist at the end of my punches. Feels better.

That was my thoughts. Looks like he's working on his hooks on the bag, not his cross.

that's more of a hook, you can't through a good, long, cross like that

in the inside(upclose) or mid-range where you're trying to rip your opponents head off with a right hook, yes, that's the punch
