  • How much weight do you drop

Before a fight? I'd imagine the AM's are different than the pros when it comes to shedding weight, mainly because you don't have as much time to dedicate to weight loss or get to it without completely draining yourself.

Seems like the average pro loses 10-20lbs to make weight, what do you shed and what do you walk around at?

We got a few pros in our gym and one of them walks round at 11 stone gets down to around 10 and then makes super feather by dehydrating . He looks gaunt and Ill the few days before weigh in then once he's weighed in rehydrates back to around 10st

I box am walk round at 68 box at 66

I walk around at about 134-138 lbs depending on my eating and exercise habits. I cut down to 125 lbs, but can get to about 122.5 lbs healthily. I could probably maintain 125 naturally, but I simply choose not to do so, since it's a lot of food micromanagement and exercise which I don't have the time to do off-season.

I could and probably will try competing at 119 lbs sometime soon, however.

Rule of thumb is one thing, what certain fighters do is another.

In the AM, you can't cut a lot of weight if any because you fight the same day you are weighed. If you are in a tourney like the Golden Gloves, you need to meet the same weight both days you are fighting.

In the pro's, you really should be about 5-6lbs a week or 4 days out. That's if you are doing it right. Now I have seen some drastic weight drops that some fighters can handle and some cannot.

Weight loss should be gradual, over a long period of time and not just done with rigorous exercise. It takes a proper diet to get down to where you want to be.

every one is different. depends on age, metabolism and how hard you working out. I can drop up to 2kgs per regular training. then before weigh in, within 3-4 days - 12-14 pounds can be dropped easily, but thats because I've got great metabolism.

if i was in shape between fights i would be right at my fighting weight (141) give or take a pound. but if i ever got out of shape a bit i lost weight instead of putting it on.

so i fought at 141lbs and was like 6'2-6'3,5 back then. if i got out of shape i would drop down to like 135-138, then id put the weight back on to prepare for competitions.
