  • Transfering weight from the rear foot to the front foot on a left hook (orthadox)

Ok usually the weight is shifted from the front foot to the back foot when you throw a left hook as an orthadox fighter.

But I can throw it so I start with all my weight on my rear leg and rotate my hips and thransfer all my weight onto my front leg and you get a simlar level of torque power and the same weight transfer but you dont get the leg drive BUT you can step in with it which may also add power.

Normally in the text books they teach you to step in then throw the left hook.

Some guys lean their head fowards jump in then move their head back like a pendulum and throw the hook that way.

Roy Jones Jr threw it the way ive discovered.

Is this something people know about and do or is it very unusual?

Roy KOed this guy stepping foward with a hook and landing on his front foot and his rear foot was barely on the ground, this means all his weight was on his front foot when he stepped in then threw the hook.

Its alot faster the Roy Jones way because the act of moving fowards transfers your body weight fowards to your front leg somewhat then you have to shift it back to the rear leg for the hook which is slow, but if you start off with the weight on your back foot step in then just rotate your hips as you land on the lead leg the hook is done much faster and if you move the hips right it transfers your bodyweight via your rotation on top of the step weight transfer. (its just transfering from back to front instead of the usual front to back)

    What do you guys think?

The best left hook that was ever thrown was against Gene Fullmer getting Ko'ed by Ray Robinson and Ray was on his front foot when he landed it.
