  • Do YOU swivel ur feet to push off or do you just push off directly? (Punch mechanics)

Take the straight right for example.

    1) Some people push with their foot 1st to rotate the hips 2nd.

    2) Some people swivel their foot 1st and this naturally causes the leg to push off 2nd.

Which do you do 1) or 2) and why?

Depends on the punch. Like a lead straight is a straight push for me. Hook is a swivel. A lunging hook is a push off. A straight from a 1-2 is a hip turn and a push from the front foot. Depends on the punch for me.

I have more power when i just rotate either my lead or back foot while at the same time tilting my knee caps about 45 degree angle towards the opposite of my other knee cap.As soon that's done i lift the heel off the ground making sure the ball of my feet is well grounded to the floor for power as it still rotating driving my thigh .knee cap raises atomically since since my lift the heel off the ground then last bit i drive my leg forward and that would lead your hips to be whipped out. after learning this i hit way hard and my fist actually sinks much deeper into the biggest heavybag i can find.

      So yeah hope that helps.
