do yourself a favor. do not start boxing next week. take a few weeks or 3 to get started on some type program to get in shape. make it fun. run, swim, bike, racketball, basketball etc. just don't jump in the ring. forget all the talk about guys running 20-30 miles a week. it will not help you in the ring. most fighters run with just a trot not even lifting their legs up or pumping the arms. these are the same guys who run out of gas after 4-5 rounds. how do i know ? i was one of them. your all time great fighters did not run 30 miles a week. slow and steady. smoothe and smart. study fighters. latch on with a trainer who you feel is teaching you where you feel more confident each day. i have been to all the gyms all over the world. fighters have made roadwork a lost art especially if they have skillz or a hard punch etc. you admit you are in bad shape so start being in at least decent shape. being in terrible shape will be discouraging. take time to up the conditioning first. you will thank me later.

Im sorry I guess I should have worded that better im not fat or anything im probably around 15% its just that my stamina is poor I go on at least one long walk a week (5-6 miles) sometimes more than once a week. I just have always hated long distance running i'm more of a sprinter so i was looking to start running longer distance to help me with boxing

You might want to try working on your strengths then. Go to a track or if you live in a city where you have plenty of sidewalks to run on or whatever, break your run up into quarter mile segments. Start by jogging a quarter mile and then sprinting a quarter mile, jog another quarter, sprint another quarter.

Pick a total distance as a goal, say 5 miles or something. You will tire more and more the farther you go but you can always count on the jogging portion to keep you going. If you get too tired, jog a half mile instead of a quarter mile and then go back to sprinting.

Do that once a week or so for a few weeks as one of your routines and try to keep the ratio of sprint-jog even until you reach your goal. Once you get to the point where you can reach your goal, either increase the goal (5 miles to 6 miles) or increase the interval of sprinting to something like sprint a half mile and jog a quarter mile. As time progresses you may find yourself at a point where you can sprint a couple miles.
