  • First fight advice

Hey guys, I'm about to have my first fight on April 5th. I've been training for almost a year and a half, (I was meant to fight back in October but the fight got cancelled then I stopped for exams and then ever since then they couldn't get me a fight) I just wanted some advise on nutrition as I'm not sure if I'm eating properly
And also if anyone's got any idea how much I should be training for the next few weeks, I currently train 3 times a week at the boxing gym and go for 2 mile jogs on days in-between.

    Thanks in advance

PS any advice on fighting style/techniques would also be appreciated, im 15 years old, 64kg and 178cm

Punch your opponent in his nose. When he tries to punch you back, move.............Rockin'

Be fast/be first/be mentally stronger/be the Boss (LoMatta)
eat what you like we're all different talk to a nutritionists after some tests are made.
Increase your road work from jogging to running and don't be afraid to get tired. Once your tired do some more, learn how to push yourself.
      Accept the challenge!!! Good luck!

Rockin' forgot...........keep your hands up, not above your head, just up!

it was a line from a movie, I think Mickey says it to Rocky in between one of the rounds in a fight.

Anyway, enjoy your bout kid. When that bell rings know that you will never have this opportunity again. Get off first, get off often and know this..... controlling a fight does not always include forcing your opponent backwards. Good luck........Rockin'

The best advice before a fight is keep a level head. You know what to do and you're confident in your abilities and fitness. Think about what you're doing, remain calm, have confidence and stay focused.

I made the mistake of letting the occasion get to me when I was 14 and I lost a close decision I feel I could have won if I thought about what I was doing instead of going to war.

Respect to you for getting in the ring though, good luck!

Listen with your ears not your eyes. In the rounds your corner will more than likely be yelling out instructions....listen for the voices you know DO NOT turn and look at them when they're talking. You'll have a lot of nervous energy before the fight and a lot of kids get burned out pacing around too much and worrying. Maybe bring some music and find a spot to relax beforehand.

Listen to your coaches, the ref and go out and do work.

Keep calm and dont go wild in the first round and gas out for the rest of the fight, fight smart if he comes out swinging pop him with straight shots and keep a nice tight guard. Have fun

OP also asked about nutrition and that's something I've been wondering about for quite some time.
What would a good boxing diet be composed of? A decent amount of carbs with protein such as a runner would consume, or very little carbs and a lot of protein like that of a bodybuilder's diet? I would think it would be slightly in between but I've always had a lot of trouble finding out for sure. Right now my diet is mainly composed of a fairly equal amount of both protein and carbs but there definitely is more of a carb intake than a protein intake.
