i did that once it took about 10 days to heal. I had swelling from my thumb and the palm of my hand. You wanna ice it lots n make sure you wrap your hands extra carefully

didnt recover ur injury u just went out n made it worse stoopid, haha jkin. Ive done the mistake of grittin my teeth and gettin thru a shoulder injury for a fite, i was out for weeks after.
just ice it everyday and if you hafta spar, just use the other hand more and if you use the other hand try to make it an uppercut. or do hard sprints instead of sparring shadow box to cool down n ****.

It sounds like it is a sprain of the interphlangeal joint of the thumb. it might be a Grade 2 strain i.e. tore some ligaments at the thumb. If it was a fracture, you would probably notice some deformity i.e. bony protrusion, and extreme tenderness on touch and movement. Get the ice on it, rest from resisted hand work at training (bag work, skipping, sparring) and try some anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce swelling and pain. Strap it upon return to training.
