I was 16, 5'9" 150lbs and nervous as hell! Despite all the sparring and training I did whilst I was 15, 4 rounds don't seem that long but in the ring they drag on and on. I was fighting someone that this was their second fight. The first round we both held back, mainly just throwing jabs at each other. I was great at stinging him with my fast right jab and I got the first round on points.
Second round, he wasn't having any more of that and he came at me like a bull charging at a red rag. We both slugged it out for that round. The ref had to keep breaking us up but we were soon back at each other. ALthough I landed some heavy blows in that round he landed more hits. Second round to him on points.
Third round, was basicly a repeat of the second. Niether of us were nervous anymore and we couldn't wait to get at eachother. After some heavy slugging I managed to split his nose. The round was a draw on points leaning slightly towards him. I was tired as **** but the ref was concerned by the other guys nose.
The fourth round was different, he held back. I was tired but I realised that I needed the round to take the fight so I kept pushing forward and continued to pound his body and jab his nose. His nose was bleeding heavily and the finish came when I backed him in a corner and started to off load everything I had. The ref stepped in and stoped it immediatly. My first fight won by TKO.
I still watch this fight on the video that was made by my dad. It was a great fight. Like a mini thrilla in mannila. lol
All I can say is I'm glad it was stoped when it did. I was exaughsted and wouldn't have been able to have gone on any further if he managed to fight himself out of the corner.
i was as nervous as hell cos i had about half dozen friends and family there and i assume he was too cos we literally ran at each other across the ring to start trading, that lasted for about ten seconds then i worked him to the ropes a couple of times and it felt like i was landing good shots every now and then where as his felt like more pitty pat ones, i drew him onto a straight right counter that dropped him and his nose was very bloody, he got up we carried on at it i landed a couple more straight rights to force him back to the ropes and as i was advancing to get a few more shots off the ref stopped it, tko win in the 1st i was very tired but very happy.
I tried far too hard to hurt him and it made me as messy as hell
i was a middleweight.
my brother said we looked about evenish but he looked hurt and seemed to feel my shots whereas i didnt up until the KD
I'm sure you said your first fight was coming up, how did it go?

I was 11 years old and terrified, my mate who was a bit older had boxed the month before and threw up in his corner and had gone on to be well beaten.
This filled me with dread becuase he at the time was a far better boxer than I was and used to knock me around a bit in sparring.
The weigh in was in an old squash court and even getting on the scales in my boxer shorts in front of lots of men was an alien experience, I then had to see the doctor who gave me a quick glance over and sent me on my way.
The changing room doubled as a refreshment stall and lots of old women ran around whilst I got ready.
I got ready and started to warm up when I was called to the ring completely cold, as I walked into the hall which was dark and smokey, old men in suits with cigars smacked me on the back and ruffled my hair (before the days of head guards)
I climbed in and almost fell over to the amusement of a couple of young girls watching at the sides, the ref checked my gloves, sash and mouthpeice and I was 'pushed' to the centre of the ring where my opponent waited, I tried to look mean but I must have looked like a 5 year old.
The bell rang and we were off, when I boxed I didn't notice anything other than my opponent, we danced around for what seems an eternity before finally coming to blows, I was amazed that it didn't hurt and started to enjoy it.
The round ended and I didn't want to stop, the ref had to push me toward my corner, I sat and didn't listen to a word that was being said, they sprayed my face and cleaned my gum sheild and the bell went and I was off again.
Towards the end of the round my opponent landed a stiff right hand (I think) and I rushed backwards, more from fear than desire I through a left hook as he came in and it landed flush on his temple, he wobbled and the ref started to give him a standing eight, I ran around not knowing where to go before my dad in the crowd stood up and screamed for me to go to one of the 'white' corners, as I did the ref waved us on and I ran across and swung shot after shot wildly before another 'big' shot landed, again the ref started counting, this time I ran to the neutral corner.
Just as I was about to go again the shouted 'stop' and pointed for me to go to my corner, full of confusion I walked across where I was told I had won!
They raised my arm and said 'blue to strong for red' to which I made my way past my dad and on to the changing room completly blown away by it all, as I passed one table a guy in a suit put a £10 note into the side of shorts and smacked me hard in the back.
From there I was hooked, and I am still involved in boxing 23 years later!
