holy **** that was ugly. You over extend a lot on your punches and you need to be patient and really work on your footwork. Dance with the opponent or make him dance with you. Literally do the waltz or whatever with another person at your gym. If you can dance the dance and keep your range you would have mauled him and would have beat him in the first round. You expose your chin when you reach with your punches too. ALWAYS keep that chin protected. Throw more feints too. You're more than capable of doing it, this is a thinking man's sport and anyone can have success. Cong**** on the victory, and I hope you do amazing in the future.
You keep the orthodox stance well and do not bounce a lot. Yes, hands are a bit low, but if you feel comfortable and it works, why not? It is very nice that you lead with a right a lot against right handed! Somehow, many southpaw are afraid to do it. You move away after your own attack, that's good! Maybe there is a lack or arsenal of movements and punches, but it is just the 7th fight indeed. Apparently you lack power now, but overall your movements are quite smooth and quick for this stage. I suggest you feint and bait more your opponent next time.
Pal, do not listen much to critiques. Ray Leonard said: "I never said I want to be a world champion. What I always said that I wanted to be special". Do not try to be successful at this stage, try to be special by developing own unique fighting style.
By the way, you set that overhand left up early in the first round beautifully. Not sure if that was done purposely but you started off jabbing to the body, then through a slight feint jab to the body then came with the overhand left. Beautiful. Your opponent fought like he'd never sparred a southpaw in his life and couldn't stop the left so you kept coming with it since it worked. You have a decent right hook as well. I think you're technique isn't too bad. I would just work on footwork and getting stronger to develop a little more explosiveness.
You need conditioning!!! You fought a young man who hardly did anything as to punches, movement, offense or defense yet at the end of the second round you were tired!!! Get your road work up to were your really working hard at it! Increase your shadow boxing to atleast 3 rounds every day for 2 weeks at a fast and high volumn speed throwing punches in bunches! Work a steady 1/2 on the heavy bag for 3 one minute rounds every other day! Get as much sparring as you can and get the amount of punches your throwing UP! You need to push yourself harder and faster!!
You only move one way in the fight (to your left) Why? Why don't you move to your right and use the double jab to put your opponent on the defense? Then move in to land your left! Yopur opponent was opene for your right hook to the body you threw ONE in a clinch, thats it!! If you jab then hook the body your left hand will land against that young man everytime!
You missed over 15 lead lefts that were to high! When you see their NOT landing because your high then aim for the chest, if your left lands to the chest your right hook will also land to the body or the head!
OK thats plenty to consider, you need to do much more because it was a fairly close fight and that guy did NOTHING to defeat you but you did very little to win! Your correct, you have alot of work to do! If your going to box give it everything you have. Get your body right then get your mind focussed!
good luck, Ray.

Thanks man. My coaches said the same thing you're telling me. I need to work off my jab more throw more combos, work on my conditioning and get stronger.

Not bad though.
Yeah man. I was landing my lead left and relied on it too much. I'm focusing on working on my strength and conditioning and working off my jab more. And more combinations. Thanks man!
I haven't competed yet but looks like you drop your left hand sometimes, as a southpaw you've gotta watch out for your opponents straight right. If he had a better cross he could have landed it a bit. He also never tried to keep his lead foot on the outside of yours which would have given him a better angle of attack, this is a basic strategy against a southpaw. You're good imo, the fundamentals are there and you throw with speed but Ray is right the guy did little to make it difficult for you.
