  • First fight in 2 weeks

I'm doing white collar and as the title says I have my first 3 round bout in just under two weeks. I'm in decent shape, have good power in the right hand, but am still nervous in the ring. This tends to manifest itself in me getting gassed very quickly, freezing and covering up when I get hit.

I'm not going to be Ali on the night and will be fighting anyway, but I just wanted some advice on how I should be spending the last 6 or so training sessions before the fight to do the best I can on the night.

What is the most important thing for me to be concentrating/working on right now?

    Thanks

you need to work on ya nerves man, being abit nervous is alright it keeps you sharp, but as you said it takes its toll on you and gasses u, so just try and relax and find peace, train hard and spar alot up untill a few days before the fight, thats when you start slowing down and taking it easy so your energy levels are high on the night (also to avoid any unwanted injurys that might occur) think of a few stradegies u can use on your opponent, so if one doesnt work u have a back up plan and most of all trust and beleive in your self, good luck!

Definitely try to work on the nerves mate, i've had nerves nearly ruin me in a fight, can help cause dehydration and really affect your performance. On the day of the fight have other people around you to take your mind of the fight. Load up on carbs for a few days before the fight, eat right for the day, drink plenty of water, drink about 200ml of sports drink about 1.5hrs before the fight and about 30mins before the fight have something sweet like half a candy bar or something.

Sparring people more experienced than you is important, and plenty of it as Fighting Flip said. And remember...the guy across the ring from you has the same experince level and is probably just as nervous.

Just have fun and remember that you'll be on top of the world after your fight.
