i kind of disprespect "fighters" who try to look at what legends like foreman, duran and toney did, and try to compare ourselves to them..we are NOT them.

like people talking about imitating mayweather in sparring...i've never seen an amateur in real life with reflexes like him.

honestly, regular, nonextraordinary guys like us should stick to the basics, and conditioning(roadwork) is one of the most important, imo.

during roadwork is when i usually find the inner peace, alone and thinking about the last sparring session/fight and the next ones to come.

^Agreed, however, I still think there is one person that some people could learn from and emulate: Tyson. His style works great for basically ANY short inside fighter, especially heavyweights, like myself.

Conditioning is like building the motor for the machine. if you're run out of gas you're ****ed. if you can operate at a higher rpm than you have a massive advantage over a lesser conditioned fighter

to be honest i think you can substitute road work for a cardio bag session. people over estimate the value of road work, i think its better to do 5x3 minute rounds with 1 minute rest on a bag than run 5k. if you wanna be a runner then practice running if you wanna be a boxer hit a bag, its just important than you really push your self on the bag so your exhausted at the end of every round. if your not gonna do any road work just make sure to do plenty of movement drills and leg exercises.

A great fighter becomes mediocre when his cardio fails him. If you can tire someone who is better than you, suddenly you become the better fighter because you still have speed, reflexes, and power that he is gasping to regain.
Look at Calzaghe. Not the greatest technician but he just poured on the volume and never got tired. Conditioning got him pretty damn far. And, fwiw, he did a lot of roadwork.

Roadwork is a MUST!! Theres alot that goes into doing it correctly and every individual has different needs when outlining their routines! Its not getting up at sunrise with headphones on and going running. However it can be getting hit by my car if your slacking off!!! Thats the fun part of roadwork!!!

if toney only got ready for fights by sparring (unlikely) no wonder he's brain damaged fool
It clearly helps with endurance and resistance, aka in Rocky, `if you train hard, he trains twice as hard`"
