  • Feinting

    Hello,

please list some feinting tips you know and combinations where you use feints.
I usually do jab-feint-jab-then quick jab-right hand or feint jab-right hand to the body.

    Cheers!

Hard to describe feints in words but I will give you a good tip when it comes to feints.

Feints are only effective if you set the feint up. For example, if you have a really good jab, you can throw it, land it and then you can feint it to land the right hand or left hook to the body.

I like using the right hand feint to land the left hook to the body as well. Basically, feint a punch that you have been landing to make it even more effective and make your opponent watch for it.

It's almost like a stutter step in basketball,it only works if you have a great cross over.

Very good way of using a feint. I like feinting with a right jab then changing it midflight to a right hook. Mosley does it from time to time. It is hard to execute against an experienced fighter tho.

Yea that's a more experienced move. Great combo too, I love throwing the jab to hook combo, slipping off the hook and then going to the body back to the head.

I only faint the jab, because my jab is sick and I know they will respect it. At least when i firdt start sparring.

Once I land a few shots, especially ones I know hurt, THAN I faint the other punches. For instance I land a nice right hook to the body. Guy backs up, I know it landed solid. I'll look him in the eye quickly and act like I'm going for the same body shot only to spring up a left hook.

Never faint to much early, it becomes a habit that youll do always looking to trick them, and you forget to just throw punches. Plus, you don't want to give away your bag of tricks.

Also faint different speeds, it doesn't need to be fast, sometimes a slow faint thst they clearly see will work best.

Marquez is a master at fainting, I suggest watching how he does it, how he builds it up, and when he really starts to let his hands go for the kill, you'll see a lot more fainting because he's built respect for certain punches. Fainting is a art for sure.

Not sure I understand the move. Are you a southpaw?
