  • How much protein should I be consuming?

I had to go to a steroid (Prednisone) over the summer to heal some serious problems I was having with my lungs. One of the side effects is weight gain, and I gained 30lbs (yeah) in three months, which took me from 170lbs to 200lbs.

Now that I'm off that ****, I want to lose the weight. I'm running 3-4 days a week, fruit smoothies, no fast food or soda, ect. I also bought a protein supplement that my buddy suggested. My question is, how much of this stuff should I take a day? He said 60g, and suggestions online are all over the place.

    I'm 25 years old and 6'2. Thanks.

    I am not expert...
But I read online several times that rough estimate is 1 g of protein per 1kg of body mass. 200lbs ~ 90 kg. So we are talking about 90 g. However, you are on a diet.I guess 60 g is a good estimate...

I recently purchased some diet protein and it says to have 2 shakes a day. It says to use 2 scoops which are 60ml is that right? and add water to 350ml.
(Protein is whey and micellar casein) doesnt mean anything to me, also says it has conjugated linoleic acid double of any others on market 3.2grams per day.

Im trying to lose some weight more around stomach area, Im not fat but working towards getting six pack or at least near it.

Dont laugh, I started doing boxercise and have been doing it since around April but initially only once a week, then twice and now Im going 3 times a week, Tue/Thu/Sat. (1 hour sessions)

I also cycle everyday to work and back which is about 10miles a day. (5 each way)

Anyway, is that enough sessions with using the diet protein? anyone else used it? does it work will it help to get me my six pack?

Oh forgot to mention Im 40 about 6ft and about 80kgs

1 gram per pound of bodyweight.

Recipe I've followed for 4 years with whey isolate and I'm all the better for it. Make sure to try get at least half of your daily protein from food sources, though - powder may be the quick fix but its always better to have a meal rather than a meal replacement.

I think it is up to you that how much you want to gain your weight and how much you want to eat protein. There is no any exact quantity that i can tell you. protein is good for body strength so eat protein but not too much.
