I do either 75 or 100 a day. In sets of 25 only though. I always used to lift weights, but I really want to get into boxing, so I figured i'd start with the basics like pushups and situps and such instead. I don't want to lose any speed or flexibility by lifting all the time. One thing I don't understand is that some of you are saying that you're getting your power from lifting weights. Well what the hell's the heavy bag for? Power. I lifted for about 3 almost 4 years, and it definitely increased my strength, but if I really examine how much it did for my punch, I can say not too much. Lifting weights is great and all....did it for a long time, but I think that you have to limit it.

punching power comes from a combination off many things such as strength training, technic training, bagwork, mitts, genetics etc

i don't do push-ups anymore.. just burpees. i can do 50 burpees in a row easily tho.

i used to powerlift before i recently started training again for boxing.. i can say all the strength helps with my exercises but the thing i can correlate most to punching power is some of the things ive done with medicine ball.. but tyson did a lot of weight traing. i think bigger guys can benefit from weights more and smaller guys can benefit more from cardio.. but it's all relative.
