  • Landing clean shots through a defense(boxing newbie)

its my 4th week of boxing and I got a chance to do body shots today, the person I sparred with has been doing this for like 7 months and I didn't really seem to land too many flush shots to his body.

    Any tips?

You weren't supposed to hit him. You were just in there to get you in the ring, without him hitting you back.

Actually I was getting hit back, a ton. I manned out through it to get conditioned to the shots. I was hitting him back as well, I just don't think I hit him as many times as he hit me

the whole thing about going to the body, is that it needs to be a counter punch. For example, he jabs, you slip inside it and throw a straight right hand to his body. He jabs, you slip outside it and land a hook to his belly. It is all slip and counter.

IS there any good ideal way to start an offense while we are both idle?

feint. With your head, your shoulders, legs, feet, whatever works.

Try and have a Boxing Trainer Evaluate your potential to box!! Being in your 4th week in a gym should not have in the ring boxing anything other than Oranges!! Sounds like your being "taught" under fire. Thats the wrong way to teach a student. What country are you in? Ray
