Anyone been doing it for a long time and care to share the pros/cons?

    2 kg weights mind you

I tried it with with weights around my wrist but it never felt natural.

The best thread I have ever read on shadowboxing is this one:

    http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=247043

The TS encourages people to shadowbox more because that's what they do in Cuba(1-2 hours a day of shadowboxing). Somewhere in the thread(page 4), someone asks him if they should wear gloves or use weights when they shadowbox and he says that you should do it free-hand the majority of the time but when you have a fight coming up you should shadowbox with the same size gloves you'll be fighting with. He also says to use weights occasionally too.

This thread was so inspiring to me that I pretty much started shadowboxing without weights at all really(though i do it with gloves coming up to fights). Hopefully it will give you a bit of insight, but if not, it'll probably make you want to shadowbox more.

    Peace out.
