Boxing trainers aren't strength and conditioning coaches.

The reason that boxing trainers have their fighters use calisthenics is because they are simple to perform, there is almost no margin for injury or error, and they work.

With all that said, just because something is simple and works doesn't mean there aren't more effective methods.

Boxing trainers don't use weights because they don't possess the knowledge and expertise to properly teach someone how to lift weights in a manner than can benefit them.

Working with weights does not always lead to hypertrophy.

The manner in which you lift the weight with determine what you get out of it. What is so hard to understand about that?

Also getting bigger and becoming more muscular goes well beyond just lifting a weight. You have to eat a lot.

So once again, I think you need to just stop talking.

If Calisthenics works for you, that's fine. But don't pretend to be an expert in weightlifting, because you aren't.

          WTF!?

Unless you are specifically working on adding muscle and mass, the weights and cross training you do for boxing will make you leaner, stronger, faster and more explosive. It won't add muscle that will slow you down. You would need to give up most of your general boxing training and focus very strongly on muscle gain, which no one would if they were only doing boxing specific weight training. You have to train and eat very specifically to bulk up any great deal.

As for your claim of stuff being boxing specific. Boxing is boxing specific. Everything else is general cross training. Calisthenics is general body maintenance. It's not boxing specific.

Everything you do that isn't boxing specific training ie hitting a bag, shadow boxing, sparring is cross training, which means you are doing non boxing specific training. It's designed to make you faster, stronger, etc etc which can help your sport.

I guarantee you that every top pro boxer today does some form of weight training, however small.

Anyway, kettle bells are excellent as a general strengthener/stabiliser.
