Find 6 exercises(high knee's, 2 feet in the box, in & out etc.) and practice those till you get used to the drills. Then add 2 more, then 2 more etc... As a bonus you can use it on your upper body as well. Think like going across the boxes in a push-up position and as quickly as you can go 1 hand in each box, then 2 hands each box. Be creative and if anything I'll see if i can post some vids to help.

How to improve my speed
Collapse
-
first increase your stamina and endurance so that you can fight strong for 3 rounds. once you do that alot of things will prosper and things will just come together. you can't even be as fast as you are when youre fatiigued and worn.
but point on with the speed, youll be as fast as your mind allows you to be. even further, do not let your mind control you and your body. take control of your mind and the body will easily follow behind. you can be faster if you can see it in your minds eye.
and get on a rope, work it as fast as you can for 12 intervals of 30 seconds, do 30 seconds hard then rest 30 and start up again. its very important that you have controled breathing in your rest periods.Last edited by Rockin'; 06-06-2012, 03:42 PM.

something like benn vs eubank 1, eubank was on the backfoot alot that night but got the win in the end.
tyson vs douglas again douglas was on the backfoot but was throwing mean uppercuts as tyson was bobbing and weaving
im no boxing expert but if you watch fights where a very well known agressive fighter lost to a good mover you'll find footage of how the mover got the job done im only an amateur so fights only last 3 rounds so people are alot more agressive because you only have 6 minutes to do your thing where as pros have 36 minutes to do their thing so most of them are more patient

So skipping to improve the footwork ideally how long could i do it for everyday normally i do 3x3min but i could do more
Yea, you'd need to do more than that. I tend to do a 20 min block of skipping, which gets steadily faster and finishes with 20 doubles.
The important thing is the speed you are spinning the rope. 5 minutes at top speed would be better than a slow drawn out 20 mins.

What he means is don't go straight back. If you take a step back also take 1 to the side or even together "at an angle". If you just step backwards the it is easier for your opponent to hit you. Plus you will easier to get knocked down since your bodies balance is already going backwards add the punch and momentum will send you down.
