  • Question about losing muscle: weights after boxing training

    Currently I have time for training twice a week. I love boxing more than anything else but I would also like to get a little weight training in, especially for strengthening my legs.

    The training I do consists of about an hour: jumprope...some strength & conditioning...combinations/mitts/technique and 4 rounds of sparring.

    It's quite intense, especially the sparring, but I still have some energy left. After I like to get in a little weight training. However I seem to find different opinions regarding this. Some people have told me this is a bad idea, since I've depleted the carbs in my body due to an intense boxing training, and weights after will actually destroy more muscle than can be healed after.

    What do you guys think? Please note I don't go all out on the weights, I'm no body builder, but don't mind a bit of extra bulk cos I'm quite lean atm. I realize hitting the gym at a separate day just for weights is ideal, but due to my schedule I gotta make the best of the 2 days I go.
