Will you be boxing in the Open class or Novice catagory? If your an Open fighter than at 16yrs you can be matched with adults and that can be a problem depending on your skill level and maturity. Its up to your trainer to know who your matched with and to accept or deny opponents.
At your age you need to be training hard and eating correctly, try that for a month without standing on a scale, then see where your at. At your age and size you need to be carefull about having to dry out to make weight! How many hours is the weigh in away from the fight. Can you rehydrate to your conditioned weight without having to gain back to much. When you rehydrate you should not put on over 8lbs generally speaking. If your in shape weight is 145 then making 140 shouldn't be a big deal but if your dehydrated at 145 you can't go down to 140 thats not a healthy situation. If its a tourny situation do you weigh in each morning? Lots to think about, if you were in my gym I wouldn't weigh you till your 17 yrs old and you wouldn't have a bout either. I'd have plenty of bouts for you in your gym and when it was time to step out you'd be able to step up in competition and weight. Ray
