    Preparation For Amateur Fighting

ive been boxing on and off for about 3 yrs now

i fell in love with boxing and i look for some type of technique or boxing video nearly every day (and this forum can be included)

im 19 going on 20 in a couple of months (july)

i weigh 165 and is 5'11, with long arms

my trainer at the gym told me im fast and have power, and is better than most of the people that normally come and box

but i just need to work on my defense and not too get excited

ive been wanting to participate in a amateur fight but i haven't had a chance since my main focus is in school

im planning on having one in the summer

is there any tips or advice i need to know before i get my first fight?

just listen to what your coach says. odds are no one on the internet can give you better advice than him. and relax, there is nothing that saps energy more than being tense.

Keep it simple try and stay composed 9 times out of 10 most people's 1st fight are crazy brawls with hardly any defence it usually results in both people being tired halfway through round 2 just stay calm and make sure to listen what your coach is saying between rounds stay focused and don't look at what the crowd is doing oh and as soon as the bell rings hit him with a stiff jab to show him your here to fight
