I'm in the Red Corner, bit of trouble with the headguards at the start so the proper action starts around the 2.45 mark. Any tips?

The main issue I noticed was that you're not using your reach at all. You had a frankly enormous reach advantage on that guy, you should have been able to keep him at a distance with your jab. You aren't extending your jab out anywhere near as far as you could

Tuck your elbows into your sides or you're getting very sore ribs against an experienced opponent. Why do you raise your guard so high every so often as well? You also need to use your reach as the person above me said and stick to the straight punches unless forced to really snap them out like your whipping a towel and power up the right hand so you're punching through the target.

I think you need more sparring experience, you looked quite uncomfortable in there.

Most of what I was about to say has been touched on here..I'll emphasize..

You're arms are long as hell, two things they're good for, tucking in on your defense and being able to guard your chin and body and for a long jab..

Your defense was wide open, if your opponent had bobbed and weaved more and threw hooks he'd land at will with anything he wanted, he almost did..

after you throw, you're pulling back with your chin sky high and your hands very low..recipe to get KO'd..

tell your coach you want to work on perfecting a Jab and learn to snap it better, it'll be your best weapon at your height..keep working hard and tuck that damn chin IN!!!!

To me it seemed you got too caught up in the moment and that's why you kept raising and lowering your guard maybe. It's hard not to get excited at times, but try to be more composed and aware of what's going on and what your body is doing. Tell yourself to calm down and try to catch yourself if you're "shaking" and doing jittery movements due to the nerves. I used to give myself little to do lists, like if I was too nervous, I'd make it a point to remind myself to not be nervous the next time. Try to remember the sensation, and get more comfortable with it. Talk to your trainer if there's things you want to improve on that make you feel uncomfortable

The posters above me mentioned working on a jab, and that's GREAT advice. When your arms are that long and you're that tall, that's such a great weapon. Maybe once you've got a better jab going, you can also work on the lead hook to jab and hook from a distance to disrupt their rhythm and footing while also moving to the side for a better angle. Vitali does it great, and I'm not saying you're Vitali or anything, but developing your lead hand works wonders when you have the size-length advantage and he's a good example of that.
