  • Would you fight a guy, 1 weight class bigger and way taller?

I have had 3 fights, I am a bit of a stocky guy, each fight was with a taller guy. I am 5'8" and fight at 152 lbs. This weekend i fought a guy who was skinny and 6'0" or maybe 6'1". I lost, but I was robbed most people told me that in the crowd.

Theres a fight coming up at my club in two weeks, and they got an opponent for me, I am 23 he is 35 has had 2 fights but fights at 165. I saw him fight a month ago and he was atleast 6'3" maybe 6'4", and looked bigger than 165 prob weighs atlweast 170 during the fight. I stay my same weight so I will prob be around 155 of the fight.

The guy won his fight but i dotn remember him looking that great when i saw him. I am not great, im an ok boxer that has good body shots with a hard punch and solid chin, I am an agressive fighter. Should I do it or would you guys turn it down?

yes. as a pro I moved up to jr. middleweight to fight this guy, having fought at 142 the month before. He ended up being 6'-3" tall. It was a war but I finally stopped him in the 4th round. The key to that fight was constantly getting under his jab and pounding my right fist into his ribs while I was getting under the jab. Good luck if you take the bout and as soon as that opening bell rings jump on him and keep on him. Letting him get to fight on the outside the game will be his. Get on the inside and make that game yours. You gotta want it bad! ..............Rockin'

I always fight or spar people bigger than me. No biggie. I either jump in the 152lb division or the 165lb division. I'm also shorter than you; so don't take to heart that you're shorter than them. That just means they have to punch down and they can't see what you're throwing when coming up.

It is better than not fighting. As was mentioned above, the right hand to the body under his jab will get you inside.

You need to eat something, man; that's grossly underweight. You should weigh somewhere in the vicinity of 160-170 lbs at 6 foot.

Its from sitting on my ass and eating junk food. Now I train about 6 hours a day and am eating nothing but healthy food I was at 119. My goal is 160-180.

Do you just do boxing training, or do you lift weights? Boxing training is great for getting into shape, but if you want to put weight on, you should start lifting.

Bear in mind: normally, weight lifting comes second to boxing. However, getting your weight up to a healthy level is incredibly important, I would venture to say it should be a priority right now.

Take a look at Starting Strength, it's a good foundational program.

it is a great programme but you'll have to eat ****loads to keep it going. i've come to the conclusion that a 4 day split like they have in Practical Programming for Strength Training is perhaps more realistic if boxing as well.
however, you could certainly run Starting Strength for a good few months without it being too harsh, just i don't think you can see it through especially as the weight gains would probably end up too much.
