  • 165 or 178 Weigt class next season, Help please!

    Hello Boxingscene

Sorry if my english isnt to good, hope you will understand me..

i need some advice from some competitive

    here some stats:

    i got 16 Fights..
I'm 17 years old (still growing')
My heigt is: 183 cm / 6'0 feet
    My normal/walk around weigh is: 77-78 Kg/ 170-172 Lbs
My current fight weigh is: 75 Kg/ 165
ive got 12 fights this Season

And I think my Fat percent is around 5-8 procent, i'm really ripped, so i just loose 2-3 kg water in sauna and sweat suit before EVERY fight

The Season is soon finish (1 May 2012) and my first fight in next season is (24 sept 2012)

Between the 1 may, And 1 August is the ''off season''

My off seaon training, is a lot off Long distance running, and some Explosive Weightlifting/strengtraining work. And some boxing 'The gym is closed, but i got a key, and i train alone, or with a freind.. (Can't Stop, i miss boxing to much ) when they other is slacking!

i eat healthy, but alot.. and ofc. in the off seaon i dont burn as much Calories as i used to in the season.. = Really hard to keep the weigh down. i starve myself enough in the season, so without starve myself all the off season, i problemly gain som weigh.. The only time i eat unhealthy (chokolate, Soda.. Stuff like that, is the first 2-3 days after the National championships is complete. and maybe a litte in the off season )

    My question is:

    What is smartest?

1* move up in weigh to 178/81 kg next season, and do some weigt training in the off season.. and box in -81 in Random fight and National Championships ?

2* Move up in weigh 178/81 kg next season, and do some weigt training in the off seasin. and box in - 81 in Random fight.. BUT move down to 165 in the National Championships

3* Stay down in -75 , and cut Water for every fight (dont think its healty, every month)

    1 or 2 or 3?

please help me, i don't really know what the smartest is to do..

    Thanks!

At 17yrs old and 172lbs your on your way to lthvy 175lbs. The amatuer class of 178 is what you want to shot at weighing 174 to 76 and thats a perfect way to train without weightclass "sacrifices" that are not a healthy endeavor for a growing boy. If you can make 168 without any problems for the next year go ahead but if its a struggle why do it your not a supermiddle at age 20 so just continue to grow with a natural progression. If your a good fighter who packs a punch fight amatuer till your 20 then go pro at 175 thats a great division and crowd pleasing one too. If your not a solid puncher don't turn pro, its not worth the trials. Ray Corso
