Protein shake, chicken breast... anything that's high in protein really. I always have a protein shake right after a workout, then chicken breast and vegetables a little bit later on.

That's the key. You really want to get protein almost immediately after working out. That helps tremendously.

Yeah, I forgot to say that Protein shakes are the best thing post-workout, IMO, because nothing else will get protein into your body as quickly.

If your new to training/training harder this is going to happen. You body should build resistance over time.

          other tips
          - try eating a few eggs before you go to bed
          - get SLEEP (8+ hours)
          - Water if your not getting enough

I take a protein shake with gatorade powder mixed in and a multi vit right after working out. I shoot for 50 grams protein and 70 grams carbs (your needs will vary). Then, a full meal two hours later.
Labrada "Sorenzyme" helps for soreness if you have issues in that area.
Also, if you sweat a lot during your w/o, an electrolyte supp can do wonders in helping your body and mind function better after intense training.

Carbs are just important as protein immediately after a workout, since your sugar/glycocen levels drop, you need to bring them back up along with a recovery (protein) source.

If you're in a tight spot and don't have any protein mix, chocolate milk is great for recovery. I wouldn't make a habit of it, but definitely helps for those situations.
