Atkins DIET!!!!

This is just what the doctor told me. I didn't type everything because it is a lot of information
10-14 days
First phase (wean off Carbs) is to have patients slowly wean off what we see as the 6 most dangerous carbohydrates. We don't necessarily want patients to exclude all carbs during this stage. Sugar and flour are the most difficult to sort out. Wt loss=3-5 lbs.
Wean off 4 whites- All sugar
- All white flour
- All white/red potatoes
- All white rice
Second phase(No Carb), we have several goals. First, we want patients to realize that they wont die without carbs. Conversely, patients feel better than normal, experiencing their best metabolic state in contrast to the worst several weeks earlier. Wt loss=10-12 lbs per month.- 64oz water per day
- No dairy
- No juice
- No fruit
- No starchy vegetables
- Eliminate all flour based foods(pasta, bread, chips, crackers, etc.)
Third phase(add back Carb) is the long term healthy phase to be used indefinitely. If weight loss is needed, a patient can bounce back and forth between no carbs and add back. Wt loss=4-6 lbs per months- 15-20 grams of carbs per meals

thats not a bad plan there OC
once you'ev established a long standing low carb lifestlye you'll get to know how many carbs youc an consume daily and what types without bumping yourself out of ketosis. but to be honest, the more removed from carbs i am, the less i want them.... i cant believe how many carbs i used to eat looking back.

Atkins diet is completely fine.
I am currently on a diet of unlimited vegetables , no starchy veg like potatoes, I have porridge oats in morning, couple apples and occasionally some other fruit, unlimited whole eggs - usually 7 a day, avocado , seeds.
It's not strictly Atkins
I have noticed an energy change for the better.

i don't know who this atkins clown is, but if he's not some gigantic, athletic dude, i am tying his arms around his back and raping him. that goes for the rest of you as well.
no ****.
i stay away from the processed carbs. high fructose corn syrup, processed grains, etc.
i freaking blast through fruit, most of which has a ton of sugar.
otherwise, i eat lean meats, nuts, green stuff. on weekends i usually eat a lot more, but i still try and stay away from processed garbage.

But our body isn't hardwired to digest large amounts of fructose.
Atkins diet is too extreme I agree.
I've had periods where I have eaten TONS of fruit and fruit juices for workouts.
But I've found with my new diet I've got sufficient energy without having to eat loads of fruit.
Fruit does spi ke your blood sugar . But I do have some when I feel I need instant energy before workout or healthy carb for brain function .Last edited by jas; 07-05-2014, 10:16 AM.

how much do you weigh? our nutritional needs are night and day different, given your size.
also, fruit juice is not the same as fruit, unless you're juicing it yourself. they generally add sugar.

Difference is if the fruit juice does not contain the pulp then a lot of fibre is lost
