  • First weight loss tips?

Hey guys. I'm 16 year old 5'8 and I have a fight coming up on April 8th. I need to cut down weight apparently, I'm going to be competing at 60kg 132 lbs and currently I am 63 kg 138lbs. I was wondering what tips you guys could offer since I never cut down weight before. According to my coach, I need to stay away from those sugary stuff and eat less in the morning and night, and at lunch eat normal. But I don't know what types of food I should be eating.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks all!

thanks mate. just restricted my daily caloric intake and I'm pretty much at my goal weight for the fight; should i maintain my current weight so i wouldn't "procrastinate" or can i just eat a bit more while doing my normal routines? because I'm hungry as **** lol

Bruv if you're only walking around 6 pounds above the weight you need to be by eating normally, you're golden. . . You can lose 6 pounds of water weight (without actually losing any "body mass") in 24-36 hours.

I don't know why your coach said watch your caloric intake at breakfast - usually that should be one of your bigger meals because you're starting the day out. At night he is correct, eat as little as possible. . . Just avoid processed oils, sugars, and heavy carb ladened foods. . . Common sense type stuff. Don't get that second helping. . No sodas, cakes, candy, greasy foods. . .

But yeah, after you make your weight, you can eat more. . . Just try to stay around 137-140.

          I wouldn't recommend that.
The kid isn't fully grown and such a weight cut would be unhealthy.

There are same day weigh ins in AM boxing Pug....
Not a good idea to stuff your face with food when you only have a couple of hours to the competition.

MMF, good to see you back on the forums!
Just listen to the coaches and stay away from carbohydrates.
But breakfast is important, so eat that.

Avoid pasta, bread and drink a lot of water.
2 liter of water every day and you will shed weight easily

I just meant that AFTER the fight, he wouldn't have to be hungry all the time just to stay at 132, and it'd be fine to walk around at 136 (140 would be too high to let yourself go). Because it's quite easy to lose less than five pounds. . . He's young, and definitely still growing, and you don't want to deprive your body of proper nutrition all the time. Especially if he's working out on the reg. . .

He'll probably have to move up another weight class before too long anyway, so might as well let your body's lean muscle mass grow property. . BECAUSE, your body WILL BURN MUSCLE FIRST!

But yeah - just basic, common sense things for him. . . Avoid sugars, processed fats (healthy sources are ok, and necessary to an extent), and large portions of refined carbs (like you said - white paste, and white rice). . Get most of your carbs from grains, legumes, beans, and whole wheat. .

Don't eat at Night, cos you're going to sleep and won't be doing any physical activity.
