  • How long before first fight?

Right just started training a few weeks back, have one to one training with a professional boxer twice a week and go running 3 times a week on my days off. I never realised how addictive boxing is, i love being pushed. But the question is how long roughly would it take to get good enough for my first fight? I know its a question like how long is a piece of string. I was thinking in over 6 months time?

But how long did it take people on here?

In my opinion it isn't about how long you train that gets you ready to fight. It's about how you learn and pick it up and the hard work you put into it. If you feel good start sparring first before you think about fighting. Spar people who are different weights and also you'll get a feel for different styles. Do your work with the trainer, in the gym, and your conditioning but sparring is where it's at. That's what's gonna get you ready to fight.

I trained for 4 or 5 months before my first fight last November. Getting used to sparring was the main thing that helped me prepare for it - being able to find your rhythm when someone else is actually putting pressure on you.

Like you said though, it depends on a lot of factors like how you respond to the training, etc.
