  • Nose Cauterization?

Anyone else had it done? Going go the doctor this week to get it sorted out. My left nostril had kept bleeding during sparring so I'm away to fix it! My mother had to get it done so it might be hereditary

Anyone else had any experiences with it?

No Joke......my father in law had his nose cauterized in Africa back in the 60s because of persistent nose bleeding. The tribe heated up a stick of ******* and shoved it up his nostril! He said it really hurt, but he hasn't had a nosebleed since!

As I'm sure medical science has moved on, let alone in the UK rather than deepest darkest Africa....I'd honestly expect it to be a simple straight forward job.

a "stick of *******"?! not quite sure what that is or why they would have had such a thing in Africa in the 60's.

My brother got it done when we were younger.

It's a pretty standard procedure and he hasn't been a blood tap ever since.

Have had it done three times. Nothing to worry. They stick what looks like an oversized match up your nose with chemicals on the end that cause the cauterization. A little uncomfortable when they do it and after with the scabs in your nose for a week or so but keep them treated with bacitracin, but the doctor will tell you about that. They said I could spar right after that but from that experience Id give it a few weeks to seal up.

Just passing on a story told first hand by my Father in Law. He is still very much with us if you want any refinements on the tale........

results are real good, i dont get bleeds like i used to, and u can get it done again if it didnt work out so well the first time. doc told me sometimes they need to do it twice.
My trainer said he's not sparring me for a week after it's done, probably sensible.

Homey don't mean to be racist but, whats up with british people and nose bleeds?
Had a English and a Scottish guy in my old boxing gym, oth used to make each others nose bleed like fountains.
Also had a Childhood friend that looked very british.
The guy got nose bleeds just by the wind of people walking by loool- Homey

                  Not racist at all man.

Dunno, probably thinner skin (so the vessels are more exposed.). Same reason white people seem to cut more often than blacks I guess.
