Depends if you're losing, maintaining or gaining weight. Natural foods are always best. If it once breathed, walks, flew, swam or grew; you're on the right course!

Agreed. Be sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains such as quinoa, millet, buckwheat and spelt, and stay away from processed and highly salted items.
If it comes from nature, its your best bet.
A good coach will be able to guide you towards proper eating habits

Just because it came from a animal doesn't mean its healthy. You should cut out fatty meats like Pork and duck. Some fighters take it a step further and dont eat red meat at all. Others ate a steak every day like Duran who also drank a coke everyday lmao

There are many, great foods you can choose from. I'll list a few that I like, which always make me feel great.
Salmon, sweet potatoes/yams, squash (butternut, acorn, etc), leafy greens (spinach, collard greens, etc), seeds/nuts, fruit, whole grain foods, and so on.
You can eat any type of meaty you want, just make sure it's lean (low in fat) unless it's fish. Try to get most of your fats from olive oil, fish, and nuts/seeds.
Also, make your own food. Prepared food is almost always compromised.

Actualyl pork is leaner than beef if you get the right cut. Pork is a very lean white meat if you basically don't eat the meat around the ribs.

I'm trying to do away with all meat this year.

              lol!

              yes!

everybody can benefit from eating healthy/natural stuff,
from an aging bantamweight to a bonafide HW in his early 20's looking to fill out

if you're regularly eating processed, packaged, and fast foods you have to ask yourself:
is the stuff i'm eating really even food on the terms my body is used to?
              is this stuff food?

i'm starting to think it isnt

i'd suggest you get to learning a bit about the geography of your area and the types of fruits, veggies, meats, etc are in season locally and when

it will help you save money, make your life taste delicious, and get you on the right track for eating healthy

most kinds of fish, certain cuts of pork, the white meat in chicken without the skin, and very few cuts of lamb, beef etc

              these are lean meats

you probably want to eat those bad boys in moderation consistently
there are ways to be an athlete without eating meat (for instance, tim bradley is a vegan, eating nothing derived from animals,) but i think you're selling yourself short without some meat.

human teeth and stomachs are clearly designed to eat omnivorously

Completely turning sentences in to somethiing they are not. Obviously if you eat the fat in a steak it will contain fat...but maybe someone needs to gain fat...so its better than lard
