  • Recurring wrist injury

I hurt mine hooking a heavybag a couple of years ago while blowing of steam, caught the bag with a very powerfull right hook, landed perfect got got the most almightly shock threw my wrist, right back down into my body. It cleared up, as I took a long break away from it but noticed when gripping something very very heavy I do get pain in the area (at the wrist area on your pinky side).

Anyway I got back to boxing recently and noticed I could land the right hook with no pain. I was working on my right hook again last night and "****" that shooting pain came back in exactly the same place. Even worse this time and kept me awake most of the night. I think I may have ligament damage in there.

I can throw a straight right with no problems, its only when I hook I seem to do the damage. Before anyone says anything, my technique is spot on but thinking that when I originally hurt myself it was much more serious that I though. Broken wrist or torn ligaments.

Starting to really get me down, just back from other injuries and now this

Injuries like that should be looked into... for all you know its nothing more than a pinched nerve in the wrist area that can be easily adjusted by a Chiropractor or an Osteopath. You can also do low weight wrist work to slowly help build the strength of the bones, ligaments and tendons in the wrist and forearm.
You may also want to get an x-ray to be sure that it isn't early stages of arthritis or that you have damaged your cartilage... both can be painful and lead to other issues down the line.
