Work repetitions of punching motions with dumbells.
Stand close to the bag squared up, bend your knees slightly and start down at the bottom throwing left hook twice, Right hook twice, and repeat the process scaling up and down the bag in four or five sections. Try to increase power and speed of your combinations and don't stop until fail. I assure you you'll get confused throwing this combination pattern.
Just regular old fashioned boxing training will bring up your hand speed to its maximum potential. Joe Louis claims in his autobiography he got fast hands by snatching a flies out of the air then opening his hand and letting them fly away. What he fails to mention is that a man has to be born with the talent of fast hands to ever perform such a stunt. It was generally accepted in the 1930's that Louis had the fastest hands in the heavyweight division. Everybody trained hard in those days yet no other heavyweight was seen to equal his hand speed.
We are all limited by our genes. It is best ot accept these limitations and learn to work around them. That is what a good trainer does when a young guy walks in the gym. He figures out what the kid can do and what he can't do, then develops a style around it. That is not an excuse for laziness, but a realistic way to approach boxing.
