  • Advil and Tylenol

I find that as I get older (I am 36 and train hard 5 times per week. Twice a day on two of those days) and i am finding that I am depending more and more on the above named medicines to get me going. Kill the nagging aches and pains and whatnot. Just this morning I took four tylenol or i would not have been able to get up. lol It's bad for your kidneys and your liver. I just don't want to have to deal with drugs unless I choose to abuse it.

I can't be the only one.

Do any of you have any other remedies that you can share? I have got Tiger Balm, medicated rubs, herbal rubs, etc.

My grandmother, who started aikido at the age of 60, uses the homeopathic Arnica montana. During her workout she puts 10 to 20 drops of the liquid Arnica in her water bottle to prevent her body from getting sore but if she's really sore afterwards she uses the Arnica cream on the sore spots. I use it too sometimes and it works like crazy. Works great on bruises too.

My boyfriend, who is 36 and a professional kickboxer, massages all his muscles with some thai massage oil, the kind muay thai fighters in thailand use before they fight. This makes his muscles warm and smooth. And two times a week he goes to a sport masseur, 'cause he feels he's getting more stiff now that he's getting older. But really, the guy is more flexible than I am!

    I hope this helps

If im really hurting I take an ice bath. Started doing it when I played football but if you can get the temperature to about 55 degrees F or 12 C with a lot of ice in the water then thats where you want to be. 15 minutes in there will get your mental toughness up and the next morning you will feel a lot better.

Decent fish oil in good amount, lots of citrus fruits, broccoli sprouts. And ****loads of animal fat and protein. I find that the bodybuilding diet schedule of overindulging in proteins and dietary fats of all kinds helps the best with nagging injuries of all kinds.

I found this article to be pretty helpful back in the day.
                http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_...n_and_recovery

Although one of the pointers in the article is redundant in my opinion.
you do not need to eat every 2 hours, eating every 4 hours is completely okey. But they have some amazing info on herbal medicines that help recovery and inflammation

Just be a warrior. That's best advice I can give you. Sometimes I wake with horrible pains from the last night street fights. Sometimes I fight 6-7 people at once and I end up in bad shape but I win which is important. I refuse to go to hospitals or pills I like to stay natural and let the body heal alone or just take the pain like a warrior.
