  • Evaluate my Shadow boxing

First of all, hey, I'm a new member from Mexico, I like this forum (been reading some articles for a while and I like it overall) Ok, enough formalities, It's been almost 4 years since the last time I hit the gym (i'm 23), but suddenly I feel this urge to get back and train again, but i'm in terrible shape right now I couldn't last one sparring round. Anyway I want you guys to evaluate and tell me what are my flaws (weak points) in my Shadow boxing.
Here is the link to it:

    watch?v=MDTjcuNbQNc

(Just copy paste it to Youtube, it won't let me post any link at the moment)

I used to train at Julian Magdaleno's Gym (same as Canelo's) never got the oportunity to sparring with him, that's too bad cause now I wanna punch him in the face so bad hahaha, I would get my ass handed, but
Anyways, thanks in Advance and sorry about my lame English.

It shows class to admit that you would not last a round sparring, it's tough.

Nice rhytme, no power no thought. Your just going through the motions. That triple jab, while I do applaude that you threw one to the body in the process, was honestly about the ugliest display of a jab that I have seen in a looooooong time. If you are going to throw a punch then throw it like you mean it rather than just flailing your hand about with no real meaning.

I like your rythme with your 1-2 hooks. but when you throw one right after another again, again, again and again don't you think that somebody might actually pick up that rythme pretty quickly. You gotta mix it up dude. Wheres the headmovement, wheres the body work, where the slipping of the shots that come generally when you stop throwing. Shadow boxing is an exercise for the body but foremost it is an exercise of the mind. Get off of that straight line that you walk forward and back, you gotta whole space if you'll move that chair. In your mind see the space that you will fight for and see a man who wants to make it his space. In your mind it's all transgressing and your body is going right along with it. Learn to fight with the minds eye...........Rockin'

Wow Rockin' I didn't know I was that bad, I guess I still have a lot of stuff to learn, I used to think I was like intermediate in the sport or something, thanks for the advice tho.

Hey man, i commented on your video too, but check out boxingfitfactory on youtube. I found a ton of quick 2 min tips on there. The guy on there looks like Carlos Boozer (lol) but he has some good stuff in every video. I definitely recommend checking out some stuff there. He also goes over a more proper/safer way of throwing a jab to the body.

I see a lot of potential. You are the kind of fighter I would taker under my wing..

Hmm.. but the speed.. the speed must improve my friend. Try throwing punches as fast as you can for 5-10 minutes straight. The more you do this, the lighter the arms will feel everytime you throw. Keep working on speed and head movement too. But I like your style, kind of fighters I turn into star warriors.

                    Good luck.
