  • Is it harder to run in the cold??

    I remember during the summer, I would run and it would be so easy. I could run 8 miles if I wanted to. But now, its fall and the weather is a bit chilly. I run in the early mornings. And by early, I'm talking 5 in the morning, so the air is even chillier. And now my breathing is heavier. During the summer I would run at a decent pace. Now I'm all slow, breathing all hard. What's going on here? It's not even a "everyone has a bad day" thing. Because this isn't a bad day. It's constant. Everyday its hard to run. How can it be so easy to run and overnight, from now on, it's hard.

          yeah i hate it when it's cold cause the breathing is a pain

            I dont start feeling good until Im sweating so it takes me longer to get going in the cold. Also If its the dead of winter and really cold I get a cough. I would say just know that your going through even more discomfort due to the cold and it is prepairing you more. Thats the way I look at it.

              Somewhat.

              When it's cold, your lungs feel like they are on fire.

              When it's really hot, it's like breathing through a funnel.

              Both are terrible feelings but if I had to choose one. I'd rather run in the heat than real cold temperatures.

                Actually running in cold weather is better. It takes mental toughness to go out and run in freezing temperatures but the added bonus is that your cardiovascular system is taxed a bit more, increasing your stamina.

                  To be honest, if you run fairly often and competently (at least three or four times a week the whole year round) you wouldn't notice the onset of cold or warm weather. Your body would gradually adapt.

                  My running times don't suffer seasonal variations unless severe wind, rain, snow or ice is involved. But I do run the year round.

                  If the last time I did an 8 mile run was in August..........and then I attempted to do the same thing one frosty January, your right; it would feel rough. But the body adapts quickly, so keep it up and running in the cold will feel better after a couple of weeks.

                    the heat feals nice caus its easier to warm up n get going...

                    but i hate over heating shen its like 90+
