hey guys, i was wondering about the ultimate diet for a fighter.

ive heard great things about paleo. apparently it gives you more energy and lets you stay at a really low bf% while building muscle because it is keto. im not sure i like the sound of keto though and the lack of carbs might be difficult for a fighter, especially with post workout nutrition

the warrior diet also looks good.

lastly the regular diet with the standard 6 meals, high in protein.

i was just wondering what you guys think is the best diet for a fighter. what kind of nutrition do fighters need? do fighters need lots of carbs? is keto safe? cheers

High Carb Moderate Protein Low Fat diet is the ideal Boxing diet.

60/25/15 or so, could also be 70/20/10.

I personally think carbs are necessary for boxing, mainly because the sport mainly uses the anaerobic which needs glycogen to function (produced from carbs).

Paleo diets, or other low carb type diets might work well for endurance type of sports because fat is a brilliant source of slow burning energy as long as your body adapts to use it well (keto I guess), but for boxing, especially amateur boxing which is mostly a start stop, explosive bursts sort of sport Id say carbs are 100% needed.

I imagine that there will be some people out there who box and have adapted to a paleo/low carb diet but I would hazard a guess that they are not reaching their full potential.

The carbs that you eat should be clean and low GI preferably.
