  • Weight Loss For Boxing?

Okay so i'm 17 and i weight 160 im 5'10. I know I could use to lose a little bit of weight but I wanted to drop to 140 or 147 is that too much weight to drop? If not what can I do to make it go quicker besides my training? Thanks

It depends. Would have to see your build before making any judgements.

If you are in good shape, the best way to find out what you can fight at is to train and eat as if you were preparing for a fight. Go running regularly, watch your diet. (Actually you should do these anyway.) And give 110% 5 days a week in the boxing gym. After 6 weeks, see where you are, and see whether there's anything more to go.

You can lose quite a lot of weight by dehydrating, but the best fighters don't tend to rely on that so much as weight draining affects energy levels. You shouldn't be aiming more than 5-7lbs lower than your optimum weight.

This is all my opinion and hobbyist experience from Muay Thai. I'm sure somebody else can offer something backed by more experience.
