  • Pain in Middle of Hand

So after I got a really bad jammed thumb,

I went in the gym a couple days later and it was good enough to fight with, and I did pretty good in the gym.

The day after though, I felt a sharp pain in the middle of my left hand, and the middle of my right as well (the right had the jammed thumb).

Right in the middle, and bottom, of the palm if I punch it, it hurts pretty bad.

And every time I punched it's as if I was sapped of all the power I had, and it started to really pain me on every punch. It's just weird because I have NO idea what the heck it is, any ideas?

For the record, my trainer wasn't having me wrap my thumb or put any wrap inbetween my fingers if that would have anything to do with it, but I know we all wrap differently.

Ps: Don't think I have a low tolerance for pain because I asked questions like this. I'm just a beginner who really isn't sure what injuries to train through, what to not train through, and etc. I want to be the best, but to do that you have to be smart.

Your hands are your tools man, gotta take proper care of them.

As for the pain in the middle of your hand, I don't know what it could be. I never experienced that through my time.

Rest it for abit and see if it goes away, or better yet have it looked at by a professional. These little injuries can cause alot of trouble down the road..........Rockin'

That was a very fast recovery from the thumb jam..Some hand wrist even elbow pain is to be expected..Your impacting those repetitively..The trick is to stress them a little so they heal fast and recover a little tougher than before. That's why the Heavy bag is so great..First you can gauge the distance accurately and know know much momentum the bag has..People can be deceptive but the bags honest..Second the heavy bad is the single best exercise at strengthening you hand..I know it may not see like it but your body is subconsciously super tightening that grip just before impact. You work the heavy bag enough hands and forearms will beef up.If you broke or tour something in your hand your need to go see the doctor..For me soft connective and muscle pain is different the broken bone torn ligament type pain..It's something your going to have to learn cause some amount of pain is part of training..Usually your endorphins mask it during the workout..So if you feel something happen acutely painful during training you need to take extra care and get it checked out.
