Pull something? Did you hear a noise when it happened? If you've seriously injured your back you wouldn't be able to move but back pain is still nothing to play around with, stay away from the heavy weights champ, especially if you don't have someone around you who knows what they're doing to critique your form and stop injuries like this from happening again, you can do serious damage to yourself. I've had my fair share of back injuries and I'd advise against doing anything outside of simple calisthenics until your back feels 100% again.
And don't do any kind of heavy lifting without a credible strength coach around. Thinking you're a deadlifting Superman will just leave you with a slipped disc, trust me, I know from experience.

Stop doing weights but dont be idle
Depends on the severity of the injury. I damaged a join tin my back and also have a disc problem for 7 months now...getting physio on it. The worst thing you can do with a back injury believe it or not is rest it completely ie sitting down all day. My advice would be, stop doing weights completely for 2 weeks or so, go for light jogs and stretch out your back in the morning and evenings. I also apply Deep heat to warm the muscles/joints etc before excercising.
