A tip that sounds ****** but I swear by it

If you ever get stale, PLAY BASKETBALL. sounds simple but thats it.

if you box, and you can't play basketball at all get out practice the fundamentals and then get in some easy games with your friends. The coordination you need for drives and crossovers will breathe life into your boxing if you've been getting stale. If you prefer soccer it's the same thing, the moves and angles you need to dribble past people and handle the ball at high speed. just make sure you play HARD, like you do in the boxing gym, get your heart rate POUNDING and get sweaty. if you're gasping for breath you need to get in better shape if you wanna keep boxing.

if you've been doing you're boxing routine week after week and it feels like you're getting stale, i swear, take a week off from boxing and focus all your fighting energy out there on the court or the field.

when you get back to boxing, you will be amazed how easy it is to hit you're sparring partner. closing on your partner and making your lateral exit after a punch will be so easy.

        This is 100% the truth.

One step further, I'd say that a lot of sports have carryover into boxing. Soccer for balance and footwork and speed, Basketball for the reasons you mentioned. Actually, I consider defense in basketball to be the closest non-combat sport to boxing. Footwork and bodypositioning are really similar.

Also, power sports where you learn to move explosively can also help, especially if you have a background in them. I used to play a lot of baseball and throw the discus, and that rotational training along with the throwing motion in baseball really made me a alot more powerful than I would have been otherwise.
